EU Video Games is an Erasmus+ project (2024–2026) about using video games to teach young people about democracy, EU values, and active citizenship. No coding skills needed.

The EU Video Games Erasmus+ partnership is coordinated by AHE University in Poland, with partners from Italy, Belgium, and Lithuania.

Why video games?

Democracy and EU citizenship are important topics. But they are not always easy to teach in an engaging way. Video games change that. This project uses non-coding game engines, so anyone can create their own educational game — youth workers, teachers, and young people included.

PROJECT PARTNERS

The project is coordinated by Akademia Humanistyczno-Ekonomiczna w Łodzi (AHE), Poland, and includes Euphoria Net (Italy), EGLE (Belgium), Tavo Europa (Lithuania), and Fundacja Sempre a Frente (Poland).

WHAT THE PROJECT AIMS TO DO (OBJECTIVES)

The EU Video Games Erasmus+ project helps youth workers and educators bring civic topics into non-formal learning. It builds digital skills and media literacy alongside citizenship awareness. Inclusion, diversity, and intercultural dialogue are at the core of both content and method.

WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON (RESULTS)
  • 10 content guides on democracy and EU citizenship as a starting point for game creators
  • A plain-language tech guide to non-coding game engines — usable by anyone, regardless of skill level
  • A content guide for turning civic topics into actual game mechanics
  • 10 ready-to-play prototype games on different topics, to use directly or adapt
  • A toolbox with 15 resources for game creation
  • 10 pre-designed templates to fill in and reuse
  • 20 games created by young people during the testing phase
  • 10 tutorials for getting started with non-coding tools

All results are available in English, Italian, French, Polish, and Lithuanian.
